While wishing you all a very happy & prosperous new year, I thank members for their positive response to the quarterly HRAO magazine and for their active role in joining together for promoting Odisha’s Tourism potential. Had the tourism policy been declared last year, we could have done better but by waiting a little I am sure the policy will be better than what we have envisaged. Honourable Minister Tourism has personally informed me that he is adding some more incentives to make the policy more attractive for investors and for giving a boost to increase tourist inflow to the state. 

Mr. Ashok Tripathy, IAS has taken over as Principal Secretary, Tourism on 18th October 2010 and I am sure with his young dynamic Director, Mr. T.Ao, IAS, they would be able to fulfill the desire of the minister to make Odisha a number one tourist destination and I am sure they would take initiative to put into action and implement the promises made by the honourable minister.

On behalf of the HRAO, I wish to congratulate the Dept. for excellent arrangement at the Konark Dance Festival (1st to 5th December) & The Toshali Craft Mela (15th to 27th December) we could see many foreign tourists at the festival and Mr. Tripahty, IAS, Principal Secretary informed next year they would announce the programme at least 6 months in advance to attract more foreign & domestic tourists.

The many issues which remain unsolved by the Tourism dept have been once again presented for the fifth time to the new Principal Secretary, Tourism and very soon we will have another round of interactive meeting with the new Secretary and the Minister.
